Just installed (on my 4S) the beautiful weather app WTHR ( WTHRâ„¢ - A Simpler, More Beautiful Weather App ).

But I noticed that since I installed the app, the GPS/Location services arrow is on almost constantly, even when the app is not running in the foreground, or running at all. And the battery is getting run down as though I had a navigation app on in the foreground.

When I go into Settings->Location Services and disable them for that app, the icon instantly goes away. If I turn it back on, the icon comes right back.

Has anyone else run into behavior like this before? I restarted the phone but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

Thanks,
Chris

Sounds like a bug. Send it to the developers.

Judging from the reviews on the AppStore page, you aren't the only one with this problem. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any possible way to contact the developer. There's no contact info on either their website or through the AppStore page. About all you can do is post a negative review and hope the dev reads the reviews. That's lame.

I guess the app constantly checks for the location. Which would be so draining for the battery. It would be best to look for something else until this is fixed.

I have seen MotionX GPS apparently staying active without my intent on my iPhone 4 (but not my iPad) lately, so I've taken to shutting it down instead of just letting it go into the background. That doesn't help with a weather app though.

I agree with Thorzdad - post negative feedback on the app's page.
