Hi there folks,

is there a simple, one-step program that will convert a descrambled, region-free .VOB file into an iMovie-compatible .mov or .mp4 or.whatever format WITH SOUND?

OpenShiiva 0.8.6 isn't doing the audio for me, DiVA doesn't do sound either, according to the ReadMe.

I actually only need short snippets of the film to work with and loop, so ripping the audio separately and re-aligning that after cutting apart would be a bit of a bitch.

The MPEG 2 Playback Component lets you open .vobs in QuickTime. From there you should be able to convert it to anything you want.

I have the component installed.

It's Not Working.

And importing the .mp4 into iMovie throws up an error.

There is no one step method, here's how I do it...

1 bbdemux mpeg file
2 convert m1a with XRay to
hook (creator)
mp2 (extension)
MPG2 (type)
3 drag into iTunes and convert to aiff
4 look in songlist and drag aiff to folder with files
5 convert m1v with QT to DV stream
6 open DV stream in QT
7 open aiff in QT, select all, copy, ADD to DV stream.
8 save as DV stream with no dependancies

FYI I am a Christian and I can get this to work....

Okay...the MPEG2 component now works (updated to v. 6.3, duh).

However, no sound.

I'm rather confused by your list above...

Can somebody give me drool-proof instructions on getting .vob files into iMovie WITH audio?

Another problem:

I ripped the DVD to hard drive using DVD Backup.

All .VOB are recognized by QuickTime using the MPEG2 decoder.

1. NO SOUND

2. ALL .VOBs ARE SHOWN AS APPROX. 40 SECONDS LONG!!!!! (They're 1 GB each.)


ARRRRRRRGGGHGHHHGHGHHHH!!!!!!

I don't think it will do anything but iDVD discs, but have you looked at DVDxDV?

Dragging the VOB onto the BBDEMUX window wil result in two files:-

1. a .m1v which is the video file
2. a .m1a or .ac3 wich is the audio file, extension depends on how it is encoded.

To get the audio into quicktime so that you can paste it over the video you need to convert it. Do this using XRay as I explained before.

How far have you got?

PS DVDBackup works well.
