Have a manual car coming and planning to have the CDV removed. Any comment?

I thought that was something along the lines of blinker fluid or a muffler bearing... Until I googled it.

WTF would you want a valve on your clutch! it's supposed to be violent if you F it up!

I've driven a BMW 330i before and after the CDV was taken out. I couldn't tell any difference, but the owner swore it was a much smoother drive.

allegedly BMW installed CDV on manual models since their warranty started to cover the clutch few years ago.

From what I understand, a CDV is just a flow limiter for the hydraulic fluid in the clutch system, which supposedly smooths the speed at which the clutch is reengaged. Between that and good synchronizers, a decent clutch should be smoother than a mechanically simple clutch.

There is a CDV on my wife's S2000's clutch. Honest, it says so in the tech data. Having been less than practiced with that car, I've been less than smooth on the clutch more than a few times, and I can honestly say I didn't feel any difference in clutch engagement in the S2000 compared to my first Honda, a 1980 Civic with a non-hydraulic clutch.

IMO, it's a matter of adapting. I did find it jerky at first in my 330i, but eventually got used to it and never bothered.

Can you reinstall it if you do remove it?
