Mid-September. But according to the order page, it says 3 - 4 weeks. SO I think by the end of the last week in September, some people will have it in hand.

Mid-September would fit under the "3" of 3-4 weeks, so they're not being entirely untruthful. I suspect that Apple will be very eager to get the new iMac into their retail stores at the same time... maybe even a bit earlier.
If you're going to order, order ASAP - we don't know how long the initial allotment will last, if it hasn't already sold out. I do believe that Apple will get the first batch out by the end of September, since 1.6 and 1.8 GHz chips are easier to manufacture and the rest of the system is made of commodity parts.

Ordered 20' G5 iMac on 3/9/04 from Apple store UK and estimated ship date is "on or before 30/9/04", my old G3 iMac is slowly dieing on its feet so it cant come quick enough for me.

How soon till they are displayed @ the Apple Store I want to see it in the flesh pretty bad. If it's what I'm expect I'll order or buy it in store on the spot. I don't think I've ever actually bought a mac sight unseen.
