I just used a eyeglass repair kit screwdriver and it worked just fine, but then agian I don't know what screws the 15" uses. I have a 12" and didn't have a problem with the tiny screws and screwdrivers.

You can't see it too well in my pics, but I used a size 00 and it worked fine. Excuse the question, but have you tried unscrewing both ways, including counter-clockwise?

I used a #0 Philips head, which fit perfectly.

Yep. Tried both ways with the 00 phillips head.

Before making another trip out to buy a #0 phillips head, I broke out an eyeglasses repair kit and used that screwdriver. Worked like a charm. Thanks for the suggestion IREZ.

same same .. looks cheaper than the departing 512 crucial ram ... so far it's working fine .. have yet to hardware test it. what's the judgement on the ram?

Hi, all!

I received my 1-GB Ram today and upped my 15" PB to 1.5-GB of RAM. So far, so good. In the System profiler, the speed of the RAM is exactly the same, Speed: PC2700U-25330. I haven't done any sleep tests or shutdown tests, but all appears to be awesome. If anything should occur, I'll let y'all know.

PS - I found that a Philips #0 screwdriver worked the best. Those suckers were pretty hard to remove! Either that, or I'm just a wimp about diggin' into my PB. :-P

With my #00 screwdriver, I found that they came off pretty easily/smoothly...

All is well here too. Sleeps just fine. No kernel panics. Just plain works. Great deal. Thanks for pointing it out. Sure beats the $$$$$ I spent on Apple RAM because the early modules from OWC and TransIntl didn't work properly.

best damn deal ever! been using my powerbook extensively, btw i do not turn off my powerbook at all, i tried letting it sleep several times to test, no problems... been playing games set on highest maximum settings, having a bunch of apps open like photoshop, illustrator, quark, and a bunch of other apps all at once... i love it

if you havent jumped on it guys, i suggest you do so, you wont see this offer around anywhere else... get it while you can... having 2gb makes me even love os x more...

My local stores (Phoenix) have this as part of their ad for the weekend. The $159 price is valid in store (down from $210) and both locations have stock. If you are looking at jumping into this late check with your local store before ordering online. You may be able to save on shipping.

$159 is still a good price, and they do not charge you an arm and a leg for shipping.

Just picked up my second stick of this memory at Fry's. First one was via outpost.com. Something to be said about instant gratification. The brand is still the same in the store as it is on line. Installation was a snap and no issues with anything yet.

It's working well with my PowerBook (1.25Gb of RAM now). The sleep function worked the same after I put it to sleep for a few hours and nothing has crashed or burst into flames, haha.

It was kind of annoying to have to find a screw driver that worked with (as in, actually fitting and being able to turn) those super tiny screws that were screwed in real tight, though. That's the only negative thing I have to say.

tibook uses PC133 not PC2700.
you cannot use the memory to tibook.

Is the Ti book pc2100 (133mhz DDR) or non DDR pc133? If it's pc2100 than this will work as faster ram will work in a slower machine. If it's SDRAM pc133 than no such luck... oddly enough that ram is now more expensive than DDR... which makes sense as pretty much all newer machines use it.

PC133 memory has a 144 pin while PC2700 memory has 200 pin. PC2700 memory is physically different from PC133 memory.

Shipping is only like $6, $8, $10 (ground, 2day, overnight)... pretty cheap.

oh well, that *was* a good deal. that stick went for $199 at OWC, but their price also went up just days ago. i went with OWC cause their ram is guaranteed for life (and i had a credit coming to me).

Oh, I understand that I do the same all the time... but $40 savings (almost 25% in this case) is very nice.

Just ordered a stick from Outpost.com, delivered to a friend of mine who lives in New Jersey (I live in Europe, and as mentioned Outpost don't ship abroad). The stick is backordered. Just hope they get the same item in stock soon, and not some other make, since a return would be cumbersome given the arrangement.

The price is still great although it now is $159.95. I would have to pay three times the price where I live. Great deal!

I went ahead and ordered a stick, even though I haven't bought my new powerbook yet (probably a 17"). Hopefully they'll get some in stock before I need it. This can be used in a rev A 12" aluminum as well? If so, I could put it in my current machine if it gets here early.
