My friend in Chicago is haveing trouble with his iPod. The first part of this is when his iPod start to show the file with the exclamation point. After taking it to his local genious bar, the geniouses couldn't resolve the problem. so he go a new ipod. The problem persisted. Then, he used a friends cable to connect other iPods to his computer, ther started showing up (the othber iPods). now, when he used a friends firewire cable to connect to his powerbook, his ipod shows up on the desktop, but not in iTunes, but in the iPod software updater. He is running OS X 10.3.7, and has installed the latest versions of the iPod software, and has iTuens version 4.7.1. what should he do now?

He could try and reformat his iPod. Use the iPOd updater and re-install the software. If he still has problems bring it back to Apple.
