I've currently got Jaguar running on my venerable iBook 500, and it does nearly everything I need it to, but obviously I'm wondering about getting Tiger. I was wondering if anyone else had done a similar upgrade. Is the speed any better/worse? Are the new features (ie Spotlight) useable?

Cheers,

Will

I have it running on an iMac DV SE (400MHz) with 256MB of RAM, and it works fine.

Faster than Panther, especially window resizing, minimizing, etc

I think it does take a bit more RAM than Panther, however. 256MB is painful sometimes.

wow. you're still with Jaguar? you should definitely upgrade. Jaguar is VERY VERY slow compared to 10.3 and it seems that 10.4 is even faster.

That's good. I'm still using 10.2.8 on my 700mhz iBook. I plan on getting 10.4 and it's a good thing that .4 appears faster than .3 which is faster than .2.

Safari starts faster, the scrolling in safari is better, windows effects, dragging, copying, etc. Seems more smooth.

Some users got it early through a MacMall ****-up. I would never presume he pirated it.
