running mac panther on powerbook hooked up to the dell 24 incher, beauty! anyone clues on how to adjust brightness?

good luck. on the 2005 20" i turned down the brightness all the way and is still too bright.

dell just put too much light in those things.

Try going to the monitor adjustment menu and turning down the color settings. I've found that reducing the RGB by about -10 does the trick nicely.

By the way, contrast on monitors can also be adjusted through the Universal Access pref pane. Normally monitors connected with dvi won't allow contrast adjustment, only brightness. Just a quick fyi.

In the menu on the monitor itself you can adjust the brightness. I too turned mine down pretty far and it is still very bright. Nature of the display. Still a very nice unit.

Since these monitors were meant to used on pcs (lol) which use a gamma of 2.2 and Macs have traditionally used a gamma of l.8 you might try using the 2.2 setting in the monitor display preferences calibrator.
