Here is the last preview before the release:

click for larger image

I've decided to split the Panther Theme into Panther and Panther Pro and started this thread to direct all related Panther Pro discussion here. Panther will be updated to v.1.2 and Panther Pro will be released at v.1.0. I've made a few minor changes and got the Safari buttons finished. A few more tweaks and I'm done.

Look for a possible release this weekend (I want to get this out of the way before SIGGRAPH). So go ahead and post any comments and I'll keep them in mind for future releases but as it stands now this is pretty much how the final will look.

Edit: PantherPro is now available. You can download it here, or click on my sig.

It looks great! I eagerly await its release.

Also, the brushed metal looks awesome. It isn't so brushed looking as it is just metallicy looking. I would love to see Max do a version of Brushed with this style metal all over. hint hint hint.

The perfect example of what the Panther graphite setting in the system prefs should look like. This theme has the G5 Pro look Apple needs as an aqua alternative.

I haven't installed a theme in a while (the new brushed tempted me but I didn't want to install Metalfizer) but this will probably have me launching Theme Changer once more.

It's darker than Aqua but not as dark as SS Studio Pro. I guess you were going for a color match to the G5 image?

I also agree that the textured appearance has a nice look to it and the desktop picture matches well.

What do the menus look like?

The T-shirt says 'yuck - fou' - meaning I don't like it but not really diss'ing the maker - just think it's the most boring aqua theme I've seen in a long while - and alotta you guys with high IQ's are really boring and unimaginative !

The boring themes get a lot less criticism than the 'imaginative' ones. Sad but true. This theme isn't very imaginative at all. but it's so darned beautiful that I bet it becomes very popular and well loved.

One question.... are all the screenshots posted so far the 'Graphite' variation? I was wondering if the traffic lights are full color in the 'Blue' version or if they are grey? And what about the blue scrollbars? They are gone aren't they?

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.

Subtle, I like it. The theme fits in perfectly with Apple's pro hardware, without the candy colored look of standard aqua.

Very, very nice.

I absolutely love the new brushed metal that you have implemented. It is much simpler than the standard brushed metal, while maintaining the gradient that gives it depth.

It looks really nice.

As soon as this theme becomes available, it will be pushing smoothstripes off of my iBook.

I didn't imagine that as many people would like the metal texture as much as they have. I had thought about basing an entire theme on the appearance but I don't believe it is possible with the way carbon apps stretch their textures. If you'd like as much metal as possible just download metallifizer and have at it

Thanks that was what I was shooting for. I personally wanted a GUI that gets out of the way and isn't so garish that it distracts me from the task at hand.

Simply, if you don't like it don't use it. Any themes that I make (or attempt to make) will be themes that I would use myself. I find that the "imaginative" themes you speak of usually get changed back to Aqua after a day or two. If users switch to PantherPro and forget about it then I've accomplished my mission.

i have to agree the more eye candy a theme has the more i seem to get distracted from my work. from what i seen so far this theme not only looks good, it doesnt seem like my eyes will wander from my work. very cool!!

hope its released later this weekend.

No this is the "Blue" version. Yes, all traces of Blue are gone (if you find any after its released let me know). There is a way to differentiate the "Blue" and "Graphite" variations though, but you'll have to use the theme to find out what that is.

Thanks everyone for the compliments, I hope this theme doesn't disappoint you all. Things are still looking good for a weekend release. The desktop pictured (as well as another based on the same look) will be included with the package. The resolution is perfect for those with 15" PB's. Let me know what resolutions those of you with Cinema Displays are using and I'll pick the most popular ones (two at the most) and try to make desktops for you available at a later date.

Widescreen displays are 1440 x 900 for FP iMacs. I dunno if that is the same for Cinema Displays or not. But a widescreen version of that DP would be fabulous

It's looking like the first theme I'd consider keeping on. I really like it so far, great work.
I'm like you in a way, anything that is too distracting gets the boot after a few days, for me, an interface should fade into the background, be functional, but not distracting. I think that's why many high-end applications have a slightly darkened look to them. You're eyes tend to focus on the data, while the interface blends into the distance.

Thanks for all the work you're putting in, looking forward to it.

I'mDaMac,

Will there be a 1280 X 1024 version? It's for my Apple 17" LCD.

Don't mean to step on the Artist's creativity but what would be involved in using the "red underline" used in the DXB theme menus?

You don't customize OS X much do you ^_^ With an open and active Finder window go to View > Show View Options > Background: Color ...and then pick a color. You have to have the Finder window set as icon view, not as a list or column view; or else you'll see different options for each view.

That font is called Eyechart and I changed it with Silk 2.0.2 which is really great! My icons are collected from all over and half I made myself.

simply outstanding!!! What a great theme. One tiny flaw imho is the striped menues, so if those can be removed, I'd be ever so gratefull.

If no, this is still a brilliant theme

Cheers, I'm DaMac, really good work. The background image is sweet, I've replaced my old favourite with it. The Pro interface has the right balance, between interesting enough, but not too distracting.

On another note, I really like what Apple have done in the Panther interface, the new toned down stripes, the colour changes, the new tabs, and the sunken wells; it's got something about it which just looks more professional, cleaner. I like thway the interface is heading, but no comment on Apple's brushed metal though.
