I'm really new to this server stuff so any info would be appreciated. I allow ftp access to my computer at home sometimes so that when I am away I can still access files I may not have on my PowerBook, or allow others access to download files instead of emailing them as attachments. My question is: Is there a way to monitor my server to see what IP address/user is logged in and what file they are presently downloading?

There are several ways of monitoring your ftp. I would advise you to first change your inetd.conf file where the line: "#ftp stream tcp nowait root /usr/libexec/tcpd ftpd -l -l" Should have two "-l". For a more verbose log. Read man ftpd.
Then you can either use your terminal with the command tail -f /var/log/ftp.log or use Console.app and use this for loging the same file. I have downloaded the program Desktopconsole which displays the log directly on the desktop.
Hope this will help
