Why did the movie studio approve of funding a film flawed from the concept. DB outside the fantasy land from the manga? No flying cloud?
Anybody seen it? Worth getting the DVD once it comes out?

I wouldn't have seen it even if it were good, but everyone I know who's seen it says it's awful. The idea of Emmy Rossum as an action hero sounds kind of amusing, but just no.

The franchise has a ton more followers than your average Marvel character. Akira Toriyama must be crying a river for the bad rep his creation will get, and so will cry the millions of people who enjoyed DB,DBZ,etc.
Now, if Hollywood produces a bad live action Sailor Moon movie, no one will know the difference.

It's a show about a bunch of apparent steroids abusers hitting each other in increasingly ridiculous ways — or more accurately, talking about hitting each other and occasionally getting around to it when they're not too busy yelling. I know it has a lot of fans and I don't doubt the movie is worse, but I'd have a hard time explaining how the original series was itself good. I thought the "over 9000" video was a pretty good summary of how Dragonball Z seems to me.

Um, I imagine the millions of people who enjoyed the old Sailor Moon series would. (Then again, the American dub of that series already was already a hack job, so maybe not so many.)
