I found this interesting, Apple are in a dispute with Australian retail giant "Woolworths" over similar new logo. Apple bites over Woolworths logo

What most people don't realise is that the Australian "Woolworths" is nothing to do with the US retail giant, they just stole the name, registered through a legal loophole in Australia.
Woolworths Limited - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Makes me wonder about their ethical culture and if they really are as innocent as they make out with this logo issue.

Yeah, Apple Records should take them to the cleaners.

Oh... Apple computers.

Apple is suing God/god/dog in a landmark pre-emptive lawsuit designed to cut off any further inspiration from the commonly known hand fruit.

I saw this the other day and wow, is Apple being stupid on this one. Not worth the effort.

I think Apple's legal department must be getting bored. Maybe it's time for a group vacation?
Sell or send me your vintage Mac things if you don't want them.

I thought I had fallen back in time to 1970. But nope, just Australia.

This is why whenever I'm in Australia, I shop at "Target."

You know, the tomato never really took off as a hand fruit.

Apparently, Woolworth's (Australia) has also a line of personal computers.

I would think Apple has a point that an "apple shaped logo" for a store brand computer might become a bit problematic.

Somehow I'll take the NY Subway and end up in Australia buying shoes from Woolworths, when all I wanted to do was buy a computer.

They don't have a line of personal computers. At the moment, they sell food and light housewares. They don't want to rule out anything in the future though, like consumer electronics. Apple did that, ruling out music as part of their future business. That eventually led to decades of legal wrangling with Apple Corps.

It's incidental in my opinion because the logos are not much alike. Apple trademarked an ... apple. Not an apple peeling, assuming that is not something else. Like a tomato peeling.

The German Mac news outlet Macnews.de states that they currently sell OEM computers, and that the logo could/would be used for those as well.

However, they don't give a specific source for this info.
Maybe it was just them speculating over Woolworth's application which "asked for a blanket trademark extending even to electrical goods and technology."

Woolworth's does not sell OEM computers nor electronics (as of yet). They are simply a grocery store.
