A long time ago, after I ran into some trouble with Leopard's X11 app I switched to XQuartz and that solved most of my issues.
But with Snow Leopard there's currently no XQuartz version available. The first version supposed to support SL is 2.4.1 and the present release version is 2.4.0. It's dated Aug 14 2009. So it looks like it might be another while.
One of the nastiest issues I've run into so far with the Snow Leopard X11 app is that it seems to clip the display of my shell. The shell window opens with the proper settings but the display within looks as if it were stuck at the default geometry.
Only if I resize the window manually the display will refresh and cover the entire window. I see the same behavior no matter how I launch my xterm shell. It's the same regardless if I use something like
Code:
xterm -geometry 100x37+50+50 -sb -sl 10000
or if I have a ~/.Xresources file with the following:
Code:
XTerm*geometry: 100x37+50+50
XTerm*scrollBar: on
XTerm*saveLines: 50000
XTerm*rightScrollBar: no
Any ideas on how to get my X11 to display proper xterm shells until I can finally download XQuartz for Snow Leopard?
