just got new powerbook (yes, 2 dead pixels, but ... whatever) ... came with panther installed ... i had a g4 tower before and have all the data on cds backed up ... importing mail - ok, bookmarks - ok ...

but how to import jaguar's address book items into panther's address book ... i can't replace files users/library/app support - i have already mucho items added to panther's address book ...

OK. Do this...

1) In the Group column, select ALL.
2) Clear the Find box so every entry is displayed in the Name column.
3) Click in the Name column and Select All (cmd-A)
4) Drag the selection to your desktop. Address book will create a file (vCards.vcf) that contains all of your data.
5) Quit Address Book
6) Now you can safely replace all of the data in ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/ with the old data from your Jaguar system
7) Launch Address Book. You will see the old data.
8) Now drag the vCards.vcf file from your Desktop onto the Address Book icon in your dock. Address book will import these names and add them to the Jaguar names it already has.

Mission accomplished!

P.S. If you prefer menu commands to drag and drop, you can accomplish the same thing with the Export and Import commands in the File menu.
