This totally sucks. I always disable Show Genres. Why in God's name did they decide to deprive us of this option?

defaults write com.apple.iTunes show-genre-when-browsing -bool FALSE
(in terminal)

Quit iTunes
Open Terminal
Type this:
defaults write com.apple.iTunes show-genre-when-browsing -bool FALSE

I'm too scared to mess around with Terminal. Like tampering with the computers brain. What if I screw up and my computer develops a stutter or peculiar tic?

It's just a command that changes a preference file. It's not gonna harm your computer. Worst possible case scenario is your hard drive flips out for some unrelated reason the second you press enter and you have to trash a .plist file (which is easily done).
