So, I started using Apple Photos. I've been using the iCloud sync. I'm paying $2.99 / mo for 200GB.

HOWEVER: It's now full. So I have two choices:

1) Significant increase my cost to $9.99/mo for 1TB of space.
2) Get off of iCloud and just store my photos locally like I used to do with iPhoto. (Which I wish was still in development, but that's another rant)

What are all of you doing? $9.99/mo for photo storage seems a bit on the pricey side. (I already have plenty of other cloud storage between dropbox, box and OneDrive accounts)

I'm really looking for an ideal photo management solution, but haven't found one yet. (I have a 16TB NAS that has a photo management system, but it's lacking compared with even Photos ...)

Just looking for some other points of view here.

I'm still on Mavericks, so no Photos, only local storage. I think that in your situation, I would use local storage and pair that with one of the online backup solutions.
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

Thanks for the feedback. I've temporarily added extra space, but I don't want to keep paying that. I'm leaning on local storage as well, even if it's a bit inconvenient for syncing with the mobile devices.

What do you use to organize? iPhoto, or did you move to other tools such as lightroom?

iPhoto only. I am not a big photographer anymore, what it does is more than enough for me.
