Well done mate!

Hope everything goes well with the pregnancy. Sounds like you are close to getting through the first trimester and then, fingers crossed, it'll be plain sailing!

A friend of mine hit a "double" last year. I wouldn't want to go through that.

Even worse would be a "triple".

Well, we are at 26 weeks as of today and everything is going just great still. My wife feels really good and all the doctor visits thus far have been right on target with all good reports.

It has been fun to watch my wife's belly grow as time goes along. She is showing pretty good now, but we've heard the next 5 weeks she will grow tremendously more! My wife will place the TV remote on her belly and before long, it is on the floor with the movement from the baby.

Our current project is getting the nursery all set-up. We have already purchased a really nice crib and got all that set-up, as well as, the baby bedding. We also have purchased a very nice glider chair for the room. Next up will be painting (3-color stripes along one wall to coordinate with the baby bedding) within the next few weeks.

That is it for now...I'll keep this thread updated as things progress even further in a few weeks.

So Rickey -

Is the nursery going to be decked out in the colors of the A's, Yankees, Blue Jays, Padres, Angels, Mets, Mariners, Red Sox, and Dodgers?

Seriously, congratulations on your new leadoff hitter.

Haha, nope! Here is the bedding we chose:

It's neutral, as we are not finding out the sex of the baby.

Ironically, I lost my "den/office" which housed a lot of my Henderson collection to make room for the nursery. Talk about sacrificing! Haha.

It's really not too bad and only takes a few days to be back to normal. I played soccer on the 3rd day. I think most of it is mental, given the location. If your arm felt like that, you'd be less concerned about it.

Well, it's day 4 now and if I walk around too much I *HURT* a lot. But then I am not taking the pain medicine at all.

I'm glad your experience was pleasant, but mine is pretty slow going. Takes me about 10-15 seconds to sit down and stand up.

It's good to hear that all is well. Kudos for getting everything ready ahead of time. We got our crib and nursery ready 8 days before my wife's due date (and the baby came a week early, you do the math!) In fairness, I did a fair amount of repainting and other processing on the room before we could move furniture in, so it was quite a bit of effort.

I'll remember getting that nursery ready for the rest of my life, because not only was the experience of expecting someone new to come along (and not knowing exactly what to expect) exciting, but because the bulk of the work was done while listening to the Red Sox beat the Yankees to get to the World Series. I'm glad my daughter waited until after that ALCS to be born! I have to think that being born during that particular World Series will give her good baseball karma for the rest of her life.

Now that my daughter has been here for a year and a half, I can't imagine life without her.

Yeah, it has been a blast getting the room together for sure. We knew if we needed to custom order some things (for example: Glider) it would take potentially up to 16+ weeks to get in, so we are right on target.

Just last night, my wife and I re-framed an old picture that used to be in my play room growing up. We spent an hour making a custom "mat" for the frame and everything. It is the little things like that project that we will never forget when thinking about the amount of work and time we have put into the nursery thus far.

Good to hear all is still going well. Just keep on taking care of both of 'em; it'll pay off.

Something I've seen but never understood: some parents do not become more bonded to each other through pregnancy. It just doesn't make sense to me. We were married for about 8 years before our son's birth and we thought we were perfectly bonded. Nope! We got even closer as the months progressed. It's fabulous, really.

Do you have anyone on call to keep you from floating away on delivery day? You gotta watch out for that walking three inches above the floor stuff; it's dangerous!

Agreed. It happened to me on the drive home from the hospital with our first child. While we were in the hospital I was still over-whelmed by the whole experience, but on the drive home something just clicked. I looked over at my wife while we were driving and she was already looking at me with a HUGE grin on her face. She felt the same way at the same time. Words can't describe it.

EDIT: What brassplayerrock pointed out.

Well, we are at 31 weeks now and going strong. Less than 10 weeks to go before rickey939 gets to change diapers at hours like 2:00 AM, 4:00 AM, and 6:00 AM (just to name a few)...w00t!

The nursery is fully complete now and all painted. My wife is having her first baby shower this coming weekend, so hopefully we'll receive some much needed baby items off of our registries.

All in all, both baby and Mom are doing excellent still. It was fun to celebrate "Mother's Day" with my wife all day.

Better yet, how about something incidental, like Richard, Ricardo, or Rico, that can be nicknamed Rickey? Yes, she'll see right through those, but hey, they're nice names ;-)

Wait... how is Dylan a compromise on Rickey?

(And Yisala reminds me too much of a combination of Yrsa and Ursula, two of the worst female names in existence)

33+ weeks now and the baby (and us) came away with a TON of awesome baby shower gifts. My wife was surprised with a really nice work shower as well, which was totally unexpected. Her friends are throwing her another one in June and so we actually had to run off and register for more items at our registered locations. Whodathunkit.®

My wife's back is really starting to ache at times, and is getting pretty uncomfortable the majority of the night. The baby seems to be kicking her rib cage which is painful as well. At our last doctor visit a week ago, the weight of the baby is at 5.3 pounds already, so we are going to have a bigger baby we are guessing.

Oh yeah, we started our birthing classes at the hospital as well. The class is one day a week for 7 weeks. I have learned a ton already, as the instructor is really inter-active and fun to listen too. And oh my word, are the videos they show in that class graphic...wow.

See this is the result when Rickey gets a hit with the wife. He steals second, third and home. Then a little "1" shows up on the scoreboard.

Taking the baseball metaphor too far is always fun...

Congratulations, you know how to change diapers right.

The life you knew before is over a new one in beginning; this child is going to join your family and if it is the life you want you should have lots of fun; and housework should be fun.

haha. i remember the first birthing video i ever saw. it was in middle school. they showed this video from the "stirrup cam", which was probably the first time many of the boys in the room saw female genitalia. that experience was utterly shattered by the "horrors"* that followed shortly after.

*obviously a natural and beautiful experience, just not when you're 13 and horny. haha.
