I know, and reported it a week ago. For some reason, some posts (but not others) are having trouble with text encodings. If you switch your browser to ISO Latin 1, it should suddenly display.

Look at your post: in your sig, it's the Unicode (R), in your post, it's ISO Latin 1. Garrrr!

That test was done with my browser manually set to UTF-8, but it got converted to ISO Latin 1 somewhere along the way. Grrrr! I'll bug the server people AGAIN.

Hmm, that works every time, so something is borked with the posting of the symbols only when using "Quick Reply"...

Can anybody else confirm/deny this behavior? Any idea what is causing this?

as tooki says above, hit quick-reply instead of advanced and it'll break. same with quick-edit vs advanced.

so, i guess it must be browser/OS specific. What text encoding is your browser set at? I am able to post both symbols. I use firefox and UTF-8.

ω∞〒! testing the quick edit feature. Test in Safari.™ How odd. Now they're just getting deleted instead of going question-marky.

my encoding is set to default. i set the boards to UTF-8 back when we upgraded to 3.x but this ajax stuff seems to interfere a bit. look at my first reply in this thread. it was fine (as you can see by rickey's reply) until i edited it with the quick-edit feature.

OK, so I can say that the problem is appearing in Safari (which is what my posts from 8 hours ago were made with), and is not appearing in Firefox.

In all cases, my browser was set to automatically set page encoding based on the page's declaration; no other setting can be expected of a user.

Nonetheless, given the ubiquitousness of Safari, and the fact that this is a Mac forum, the problem needs to be traced and fixed.

Yes, I contacted Vbulletin and they refused to help with VBSEO running (although this problem was here beore that). In any case the new forum server is now here (and we hope to install the OS and etc. sometime this week). Perhaps the "clean" defeault install of apache will resolve the problem.

Great, and that is when vB 3.6.1 will be applied, correct?

What's the latest with Frank and finishing the new skin?
