After searching the net, I come up with conflicting information about which penryn models the unibody MBPs use.

I've seen some reports that they use the the T9300, T9400, P8400, P8600, P9500. I realize that the 2.5 and 2.8 use different CPUs, not sure about the 2.4 though (if it uses the same as the 2.5).

So if someone could enlighten me that would be great, plus how could I tell which model?

I'm sure part of the problem is that the early 08 MBPs used one set of Penryn CPUs and the unibody another but its difficult to discern this when googling.

2.4 GHz unibody P8600
2.53 GHz unibody T9400
2.8 GHz unibody T9600

The T9x00 models have 6 MB L2 cache and a 35 W TDP. The P8600 has 3 MB L2 cache and 25 W TDP. The 2.53 GHz model could have also used a P9500 (6 MB L2 cache, 25 W TDP). The lower TDP would have been nice, but it's also more expensive so it's no surprise Apple went with the T9400.

The T9300 is not used on the unibody. It's in the 17" MBP and previous Penryn/Crestline MBPs. The P8400 (2.26 GHz, 3 MB L2 cache, 25 W TDP) is not being used by Apple at all. The 2.0 GHz unibody MB uses the P3750 at 2.0 GHz. The white MB uses a T8100 at 2.1 GHz.
