Hello all, After our last Airport went on the fritz a year back I bout a new one. All was well until this morning when I couldn't get a signal. Plugging in direct modem I get a fine connection, however, the extreme, though it has a green light, isn't broadcasting a signal.

Any ideas on where to begin to fix this? Thanks

Any settings not what they should be in Airport Utility? Maybe try changing the broadcast channel?

Were you actually able to see or join the wireless network?
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

I see the name of the network, but can't join. I know earlier it requested a DNS address. Not sure where to find that.

I've opened Airport Utility, and see there is no DNS address. Shouldn't there be one?

In Airport Utility, click the Manual Setup button at the bottom of the window.
Then click the Internet button at the top. Go to TCP/IP. Your DNS server settings should be there. They should match what your Mac's DNS settings are.

I think that is the problem. I've looked at this and where it says: DNS Server(s) the boxes are blank

It also says that my wireless address: 98.217.112.1 is not compatible with my WAN IP Address.

Is it configured to share a public ip address or in bridge mode?

If you can't get it resolved soon I'd reset it to factory defaults.

I have no idea about the public vs bridge. How do I reset to factory?

In airport utility > your airport extreme > Internet, there is a Connection Sharing option.

But to reset to default, in airport utility, highlight your airport extreme, then from the Base Station menu, choose Restore Default Settings....
