Anyone buy a 7200 rpm drive recently? I ordered one on June 25th, and it hasn't been shipped or sent to be made yet.

If you ordered one recently, what's the status on yours?

Depends on which MBP. The 15'' is taking a VERY long time. The 17'' seems to be getting them without issues. I got mine within a couple days of order.

Check your 'Order Status'. You should be able to find your answers there.

For those of you who have received your 7200 rpm MacBook Pros. Are you happy that you upgraded the hard drive? Is it noticeably fast? Have you noticed any downside? Thanks.

From apple's site:
15" 7200
Ordered: July 6th
Ships by: Jul 17 - Jul 20
Delivers by: Jul 19 - Jul 26

I hear they're having a problem getting their hands on the 7200 drives...

I ordered my 15" with a 200gb HD.

Ordered: July 3rd
Ships: July 11th - July 13th
Delivers: July 13 - July 18

I paid for the two day shipping option, so I should get it a bit faster than a five day window.
I like my water with hops, malt, hops, yeast, and hops.

If you have already waited this long, might as well wait a few more days. I just noticed they took the money out of my account today, which means it will ship today or tomorrow.

That makes sense, but I am going to newyork on the 19th and was really hoping to have it by then. I am going to be very mad if it does not ship on the 12th.

Yes, sir. Posting from it now. Apple sent me an email last week saying that the orders were backed up (meaning it would take even longer than expected), but then they sent me another email a few days later, saying it was shipped (it even got here 1 day ahead of schedule). It's worth the wait people. This new 2.4 leaves my old 1.33 in the dust! Big upgrade for me.

I'll be going from a tibook 667 w/30gig hd and 768MB to a 2.4 7200.... can't wait!

And yes, this machine is like 6 years old and still running after literally daily use.

Can you cancel a custom order because I am going to wait until tomorrow for it to ship then I am threw playing the waiting game. Although the 7200 is the best choice I have read a 5400 is only slightly slower, so I will go to a apple store.

It's my girlfriend's, and no...

I guess the estimated ship day is sometime early August. That is pretty wierd though, especially with what I've been reading here lately...

I saw a few weeks ago that they could be configed and would ship in a few days. Which is pretty annoying for people like her, who had ordered earlier...

Nothing special about hers eaither, 15 inch glossy, stock ram, everything stock except the 7200 160. Wierd.

yeah mine says august something also, but the day after i ordered it ship times dropped from 4-6weeks to 3-5 business days. they are now at 7-10 business days.

i called apple and they said that im still priority over anyone who orders now, and gets quoted with a faster ship time. we'll see what happens. maybe we'll have the chance to see the next revision and switch our orders to those.

I ordered mine on June 15th and it finally shipped yesterday. Hopefully it will be in Tuesday.
Until then I'm using a new Macbook. This little Macbook is growing on me more and more every day!

This is a common complaint, and it is just an illusion (IMO). The arrow keys are not as deep so the mechanism shows below the keys, giving the impression they are raised. I'm not saying that that is exactly your issue, but mine looks like that but in reality the keys are the same height.

Tom
