My wife is keen to get a case for her 3g phone but I'm not so sure. I guess most cases leave the screen clear for touch purposes, so how much benefit is there.

Do any other nn iphoners use a case and if so, any recommendations.

I kind of like my phone bare, but I keep wincing when I forget and shove it into a pocket containing change or keys.

Sounds like you're confusing a case with a screen protector.

You can get a case and purchase a screen protector separately which is what I did. Just read the reviews for the case if you're getting one from apple. Some of them actually *cause* scratches themselves on the phone according to the people who bought and reviewed them. Kinda defeats the purpose of a case.

I'm using a Speck Pixelskin coupled with a Power Support screen protector. Great protection all around. Nothing interfering with dock or screen use, grippy, and it looks fun. The only problem is the grippy silicone is hard to get out of your pocket sometimes, but then it also won't fall out accidentaly.

Griffin makes a case that comes with a screen protector, called something like "elan". I found it at best buy. It's a very hard case, very tight fitting. It's not "grippy" like silicone, so it slides in and out of the pocket easily. But, it's very hard to get the phone out of the case once it's in, and that tight fit makes me wonder if it isn't squeezing the plastic to the point that it may increase the risk of cracking. I like it though, just a little worried about the tight fit.

No case here just "transparent protection" ... No bulkiness, great feel, great look... down side no "drop" protection.

Take your pick from here
