I am not wild about the way the new ATV will rely exclusively on streaming and not have file management via iTunes like the old one. For one thing, I prefer playing back files from a HD because there's less likelihood of stutter on playback, and in any case I'm not sure whether Boxee will run on the new box (and if so, will it support streaming video from my Mac). Right now, I don't see much incentive to upgrade.

I'm with you. I've streamed a lot of content to my 1st Gen Apple TV without stutter, but I don't like the idea of needing to have another device available just to get any content to it.

1) I won't miss the heat of my ATV Gen 1
2) I never transferred files to its HD. Too much hassle. Streaming was always fine.
3) Boxee ? Tried that, big fail, big hassle, bad quality. All I do is convert my movies with Handbrake, or stream from Netflix. Don't need Boxee for that.

- With you on the heat.
- On transfers, at one point, I had it filled to the gills, but then I just started streaming everything ... except my music (as stated earlier, I use it with my home stereo). I'd just like it if it could read the content on my network drive without having to have another computer turned on. Not gonna be a deal breaker for me, though.
- Boxee ... tried it for awhile. Liked it, but it was too much hassle. Only worth it if you're downloading tonnes of video files through Bittorrent. Most of my stuff is just converted via Handbrake as well.
For $100, there's pretty much no way that I *can't* buy it.
