I have worked through the preferences, downloaded and reinstalled Safari 5.0.5 but cannot reinstate my page to give the URL address line . Seemed to happen spontaneously yesterday I was not messing with preferences it just came up without the line.Restarted ,re-installed , must be something simple i am missing here?
Anyone else had this problem or am I lucky ? :-)
suggestions , cures appreciated
Ron

thanks for trying exca1ibar
worked my way though every combination I could find in the View it just remains not there -hide or show?!!
Actually the page drops or shorten by one line but the line is clear of all entry points just a full width space , got me puzzled
Under Customise Toolbar it shows the box but it does not have any effect?
Wait a minute - I just tried lifting it onto the tool bar itself instead of within the panel --whoopee I think I have it - it was driving me nuts I could only access sites I had links or bookmarks to
Sometimes the simplest things can trick us-I have been a Mac user since a Powerbook 100 (1992?)
OK back to sanity :-)
thanks for kick starting me
Ron

YHBT YHL

If this was real, sounds like Apple is copying features from Chrome!

OK I got totally confused by that :-)
YHBT? You Have Been Told?
YHL ? You have Listened or Learned?
these acronyms are a minefield of confusion for me LOL
As for Chrome(which I could not recall at all) ,I just did a search and I do have it on my hard drive Google Chrome dated October 2010 but I have never used it or activated it , sometimes I wonder who is using this computer when I am not around :-) ( which is tricky as there is only myself and Alenka and she has her own computer and never uses mine!)

You can put your RedBubble artist link in your signature - it's less work and seems less spammy than copying it into every post.

FWIW, I just received my first RedBubble order, and the print quality is pretty disappointing.

A screenshot would be very useful in this thread.

Not necessary.

It's pretty obvious that the toolbar was there, just the URL entry box wasn't - whether Cmd-dragged off or by some other malheur.

At any rate, he fixed it.

I was telling exca1ibur "You Have Been Trolled, You Have Lost" since you promptly replied to spam some links.

It is people who presume the worst about others that cause so much unnecessary friction and ill feeling on all forums

this is not a sacred site to be desecrated by my or anyone else including a link to their web site.
How high and mighty can you get?
As another poster politely pointed out the correct way is to include those in a signature but as I do not have a signature ,I added the URLs so folks would get an idea of who I am and where I am from not to elicit abuse or condescending quips.
I do not see such a link as spam, it is hardly mass posting to millions and if included in a signature is not seen as such I gather!

I appreciate the use of forums for sharing knowledge and when I can I contribute to the best of my ability, mainly in my area of most skill , photography.
I do not appreciate being called a SPAMMER
