Currently I have a 20g iBook and soon will be updating to a - most probably - 40 g Pb. I also have a 20g iPod and it is impossible to keep all my music on my iPod also on my puter. With the new one I can and therefore I would need a good and reliable iPod music transfer app. I know of most of them, I checked macupdate and version tracker but I would still like some input.
Any ideas? Also, any other suggestions what to do?
Sorry if this has been posted. I did a search but nadda.
Thanks in advance.

I use PodWorks. Well worth the $8 shareware fee.

Skip the urge to go with a freeware solution. The only one that's close to acceptable is XPod, and it's dog slow with a bad interface. Remember: you get what you pay for!

Yep a second vote for podworks. I used it once then paid the 8 bucks. Well worth it.

or you can just use the iPod as a firewire drive and transfer all the files that way. Also if you use identical username and password and copy iTunes 4 Music Library and iTunes Music Library.xml you'll have identical playlists, rating, playcounts..etc on your new computer.

I was thinking about that but I might not have anough room. Well, I will see. I have to wait for the new 15 inchers to come out before I buy then the transfer comes.

PodWorks is hands down the best. Well worth the money for any iPod owner. The developer is a really cool guy too. He deserves every penny.

Actually I changed my mind.

This is the easiest way to do it.

On your new PB create an identical user and password (this may not be absolutely necessary)

Start your iBook in firewire target mode (Hold down T on boot)

Hook up your new PB to the iBook and transfer your entire music library to your PB.

Launch iTunes and everything will be identical. A plus is your iPod will also sync with the new computer no problem (I currently do this with my Desktop and Laptop)
