I'm a little confused to this point.

When I upgrade to 10.2 will all of my UNIXy software cease to function. I have

-MySQL
-IMAPD
-Sendmail
-OpenLDAP
-PHP(With pdf LIB)
-NCFPTD

Or are the discussions on thie board focusing on te problems compiling new versions of each of these applications.

BTW I use Fink for most of these.

Just trying to get a handle on what downtime I'm going to face if I decide to up grade to 10.2.

You have to reinstall them, they should work properly.

I don't use fink anymore though (it destroyed my teTeX distribution already installed).

My advice is that you should do a clean install of Jagwire.
(That's why most of my colleagues have not upgraded to SuSE 8.0, they would have to configure a lot of stuff again to make it work.)
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

If you do install Jaguar, backup your 10.1 partition first (disk images work well for this), and do an erase-install. When you start using fink, avoid binary installs. I just discovered that some of my "successful" binary installs (wget, for example) don't work...

The gcc 3.1 compiler will need to be used for many programs compiled under 2.9.5 from what I hear. Fink doesn't seem to work on 10.2 yet.

Well, it works, but it's a bit tricky to get up and running (see other topics on Jaguar and dselect). However, individual packages may still not work. I've found that most seem to work if intalled from source, and a couple work from binaries, although it's very hit and miss.
