That is because you have no clue about technology. Whenever Google brings something out you are supposed to be excited as if it's the best thing since sliced bread. It's the Google Sliced Bread Beta after all!

Cool, I never grabbed the beta when I had the chance! I found my house:

That's why he's gonna kill us. So we got to beat it. Yeah. Before he let's loose the marmosets on us."

I agree it is pretty cool, but seems to be outdated. When I used it a week or two ago, I realized the image was almost a year old.

It's better than Microsoft's. Their's is over 10-years-old.

As a side note: Is there the chance that eventually high res. pics cover the whole earth? Large parts of GE only show up in low quality: http://www.flashearth.com/?lat=54.28...12.7&r=0&src=0

There are many more people closer to home that would nuke my house, so the camel jockeys can kiss spot.

Google Earth is fun, but the maps are 1-2 years old on average.

Thing is, they're being updated constantly. The reason the app is so small is that it's just the app, no images, so they're constantly streaming into your computer as you use it. This means that as google updates the pictures, they'll be updated instantly. Also, enable 'terrain' and go to some mountain ranges and 'tilt' the viewing angle. It's pretty incredible to zoom into a ski resort and see some of the runs I've taken.

been messing about with google earth myself today and from what little i've been able to get working, it looks pretty cool. unfortch i cannae put it properly through its paces yet, as my broadband's down at the mo' and i'm on a crappy 56k dial-up. whenever i zoom in on a location, the streaming percentage indicator increments to 91% where it sticks for a couple of minutes and then the modem disconnects - every time.

very weird! - but then, i don't suppose something like google earth is meant to be accessed via such stone-age technology!

heh. The only noticeable bug I've found so far is the sketchy glitchy 'markers' you put down. Hit open apple - N to add one, but then try dragging it around. It disappears. Some I made, added custom icons, and added the name, and they stayed. But once you try to move it over a bit, POOF, gone. It helps to be looking STRAIGHT down and having terrain 'off' for placing them, so they don't disappear so often.

I like the way it gradually speeds up when you tell it go somewhere. I feel like I'm in a high tech espionage movie... except my monitor isn't 40 feet tall on the wall.
