Hi guys,
I've just purchased a hot new ride (certified 2000 Volvo S80 T6, with twin-turbo 268HP engine, leather, etc with 58,000 mile warranty - really is like new), and I plan to get a personalized license plate for it, and of course I want it to be apple-related. I have seven characters to work with. So far, I've come up with these:
ALTIVEC
WEBDAV (not really mac-related)
AAPL
And my personal favorite, SUPRUSR (of course in reference to the UNIX 'superuser').
I'm really leaning toward, SUPRUSR, but since I get one crack at this I want to make the most of it. I've got a few days before I need to file the paperwork, but the sooner the better. Any suggestions you might have would be VERY much appreciate.
Remember: SEVEN characters.

I have NEVER seen a personalised plate that i thought was cool, they always left me with "why is that cool?" I donno if you want to it is up to you, but i would be happier with a normal everyday plate then anything else....
now only if i could have a car i could be proud of...... ummm Subaru WRX STi (U.S. version 300Hp **4 cyl** turbocharged intercooled with intelligent 4 wheel drive.... ummm) I am amazed how they fit 300 ponies into a 4 cylinder engine...
P.D.

I will probably be getting TINTUB at some point (in a couple of months when I get back from America/UK/France) and will put it on my (girlfriend's) 1984 Ford Laser.

The only Apple-related plate I'd even consider is:
DARWIN.
Why? Cause it also means stupid people should die. Which I very strongly support.

my plate has my nickname on it: HOOTER
however, driving around the other day, i saw this:
ASDFJKL
funniest thing i ever saw. i don't know how many times i use that when i'm working on form templates on web sites. not as good as mine, but good in the sense of computer related.

I'm going to replace my current plate (OPEN GL) with something more Mac-centric. I really like MAC OSX.

well whether you support it or not, stupid people die anyway, as do clever people, stupid. And darwinism is about survival of the fittest, not the cleverest. Look at the cockroach.

Maybe they couldn't get QWERTY?
When I am working on temlates I always use the trusty LRM IPSM.

Funny thing I saw was "MacDev1" on Ricci's car, that was a nice license plate. However SuperUser and KernelPanic are not Mac-specific but Unix-related.
How 'bout something like MacUser or just Mac or something like that. I also like that ASDFJKL or QWERTY thing, however you'd have to take QWERTZ for Switzerland.

In an environment where all specimens of humanity, from the idiotic to the intelligent, get to do things such as speed around in metal vehicles weighing over a ton, the stupid people die first.
You're right, but it sounded good, so I stand by it
(wasn't meant to be a serious comment...)

I live in Silicon Valley and see all these Mac plates that are great from Apple employees. MOOF, DOT MAC, and a bunch of others. Apple people can apply for one before an announcement, but they won't get it until after the announcement.

Do you guys have an online configurator like CA where you can check the license plates that are in use, etc? The question is, what's available.

Can you do: MAC DADY, most states permit one space to extend the letters.

Ok, I know the options in California are limited, but is one you could do if you really like OS X:
It IS available. I'm ammending this, you have to have an awesome car to pull this one off.
I just love that you can view it like this on the CA DMV site. Indiana didn't have anything like that. Choose whatever personal plate type you like.

i want fsck -y as plate, but as no slashes it will likely be fsck y. i'm just afraid that that will attract a lot of speeding tickets etc.

I got a kick out of the fact that the State of California says:
The number '69' is reserved for 1969 year model vehicles.
