could you use a laptop and the new iMac at the same time? I mean use your laptop as the main computer and have the iMac as a second monitor only?
I've seen a setup similar to what I want at the Apple store, where they have a 12" powerbook with an extra 23" screen plug into it. Maybe this idea is crazy? Thanks

No, you can't. The iMac has only a monitor-out spanning capability. You can't use it as a monitor just by itself.

www.abyssoft.com/software/teleport/
teleport is a simple utility to let you use one single mouse and keyboard to control several of your Macs.
Simply reach the edge of your screen, and your mouse teleports to your other Mac! The pasteboard can even be synchronized between the computers.
This is the closest I've seen for the Mac

It's also the opposite of what Gito is looking for...
He wants 2 keyboards/mice to control 1 monitor !

Really? I read that he wants to use his laptop as a main computer and the iMac as a second monitor.
