I'm once again a happy Apple customer, with yet another excellent experience with AppleCare! (The only bad experience being that Airborne "Express" lost the empty return box that Apple shipped to me Tuesday morning of last week - it finally got to me Monday morning of this week!)

I reluctantly handed my well-packaged Ti to the Airborne Express guy at noon, 2 days ago (after having him promise not to lose the box!), headed from MN to Houston, TX's Apple Powerbook repair facility. AE's tracking showed that it got to Apple at 8:20am yesterday. And today at 11:00am, it returned to my door, with a new logic board! All my weird screen distortion problems are gone, no more freezes while moving the Ti - all seems well, at least as much as I could check over the hour since I impatiently opened up my surprise package!

Oh, yeah - no scratches or dings, I've still got a perfect screen with no pixel problems, and so far no fans have come on, either! (I didn't have loud fans to begin with, but I wonder if I'll hear them come on less often now???) Lastly, my Airport range is much improved - throughout my house, I now get 3-4 bars! (perhaps they readjusted the antennae placement???)

AppleCare - THANK YOU!!! Life is good!

Congratulations! My Ti 667 also just went back for repair of the dreaded paint delamination. Sent it on Monday and I had it back Thursday, and it looks like they replaced the entire bottom case - it has the new, taller feet. I have never had a bad experience with Apple repair.

Now to sell it and buy a new SuperDrive model.

That's funny ... I am doing the exact same thing with my Ti 667 DVI. Get the paint fixed and then off to eBay. I bet eBay makes a ton a of bank whenever Apple releases new machine.

Thanks, issa!

It's so good to have it back, and working perfectly again!

Especially after having to use my back-up Pismo 500! It didn't seem so slow when it was my main computer - this speedy Ti has really spoiled me!

Hope that mrtew and goMac's Ti's are back from repair!

Actually my Ti isn't back yet. They said that the part finally came in yesterday and that it may ship today. They replaced the display clamshell. I wonder if the problem will still be there? I am starting to be a very UNhappy apple customer. I called about getting the case on my flaking Ti667 replaced yesterday and they said they are going to have a product specialist get back to me today. I think I am being to nice to them on the phone or something.

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.

Hang in there, mrtew. Hope you're up and running soon.

As for your Ti667 and the phone. Don't hesitate to be nice. But also be nice and firm. Kinda like you are dealing with a resistant but intelligent kid who will only see reason if you walk him/her through the rationale in a manner that motivates that individual in a positive direction. Good luck!

I'd second that. And if the first support person you speak with refuses to see reason, ask for their superior - if no success with that person, keep going up the ladder until you reach someone who is able to give you satisfaction.

Has anyone sent their recent Ti book in for the dreaded Adpater stop charging repair?

Mine is in Houston, where they are "trying to recreate the problem".

I specifically told them on the phone that they would most likely not be able to recreate the issue due to its intermitent nature.

So now its been 4 days (with shipping) and no movement . . .

Just got the issue escalated, but would like to know if any one has done anything but change the adpater to address this issue (successfully) The adapter made no difference to my problem.

I finally got my TiGz back after a week and a half. They replaced the Display Clamshell to fix my horizontal lines followed by freeze problem and it looks like it worked. Everything is fine so far. On the phone the Apple person told me that the clamshell consisted of the entire display except for the LCD itself, which didn't make any sense to me since I've always heard that the screen was glued together and couldn't be taken apart. I think this may be the truth because I'm almost sure they replace the LCD too as my lit-pixel is now gone. I kinda miss it, but at least I have a perfect display now and no more lines! They did scratch the paint a little between the keyboard and the trackpad though.

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.

Hey mrtew,

Glad to hear that you are back up and running. As it should be. Except for the scratch, though. If you felt determined, you could of course demand that Apple make that right.

And my condolences on the disappearance of that lit pixel you found so cute. What would Marilyn look like if she suddenly had her beauty mark removed?! Anyway, you'll surely adjusted to the new look in short time. Congratulations.

Hey, mrtew - my congrats, also!

The 2 days I was without my Ti gave me renewed appreciation for how marvelous this Powerbook is! I didn't realize how slow my Pismo 500 chugged along on OS X until my Ti came - I don't think I could ever go back!

Let us know if any problems resurface - our problems sounded similar, but the fixes, both successful, were quite different!

I had one incident with that before I shipped mine away for the fan problem... so they told me they've ordered some card (dunno the name of it) while they were ordering the new logic board card as well. So the computer wasn't tested, they just took my word for it (and it did seem that it didn't surprise them, so it sounds as if it is a problem known to Apple).
