I've heard from a kid who claims to have a 512MB shuffle, that it won't play an mp3 that is longer than 25 mins. Can anyone verify or check this?? I have no idea why they would limit the length of a song, but i haven't worked with flash mp3 players much. Is this common to another flash based player?
waiting this long for a new 15 will drive

Even if that was true, that would only affect the minorty of users.
Spoken & Word tracks is definitely NOT the main 'music' genre of the target audience of the Shuffle.

if that were true, it would be a problem for many symphonies and chamber works. movements of 30+ minutes are not uncommon. in any case, i highly doubt it's true.

this would be extremely untrue. Also think of how many DJ sets are out there. apple would be in a world of hurt if this were true.

I personally enjoy listening to dj sets that I download weekly off the net. That was my motivation for ordering the suffle. I sold my G3 iPod because I never had it full of songs. I just threw a couple new sets a week on at a time. There is lots of music that is longer than 25 mins a file. I really am having a hard time believing it's true, but at the same time it seems like something that could have been over looked by somebody.

That would definitely just suck. And I would consider it to be the type of problem that Apple should fix, rather than blame customers or tell customers to buy another product.

The time limit definitely is NOT true, as I have listened to a few Daily Source Codes on mine, which runs usually at over 40min - of course this is low bandwidth, so there may be a limit on the absolute filesize, but I don't think so.

maybe his 512 shuffle was full.......or maybe he had some of it allocated to be a thumb drive. I can't see the shuffle caring how long the song was but it would cut the song off if it ran out of room.

Actually, that doesn't happen either - it just says that you are out of room instead of copying over half a song.

I put Kitchen Confidential, all 8 1/2 hours of it in one file on the Shuffle and it played fine.

Yeah, it's good stuff. I went and ordered A Cook's Tour from Amazon. Basically, what's on his show but still pretty good. If you liked the Japan chapter in KC, you'd like A Cook's Tour.
