Is it cool or poser? Welovemacs.com is selling the "protective" covers for the PB's and I can't decide if it's cool or if it's just lame. Any opinions?

Stickers aren't my thing, but if people want to do that to their machines, I think it can be cool. I'm a fan of using technology and making it your own. So I'm down for stickers.

i've got three little japanese cartoon stickers on the lid of my 12' alubook, very "stylish", minimal...
what i generally hear is:
1. "you did that to your powerbook?"
2. "wow, it looks really cool"...
(3rd powerbook, 3rd with stickers)

I voted just stupid, simply because the powerbook is a beautiful machine as is...
U rarely see bumper stickers of mercedes s500s or jaguars..
U see 'em all the time on ford pickup trucks and minivans..
Apples are the mercedes and jaguars of computer hardware..

yikes..!
i like personalizing my stuff...
and have always carefully removed stickers before i sold my previous 2 powerbooks.
we can treat our stuff anyway we want, it's just stuff, and i think nothing is so precious i can't make it my own...
peace!

It's not your rad skateboard - it's a 2 thousand dollar computer. Take care of the beautiful thing, don't put stickers on it.

before this turns into the lounge...
whether i paid $20 or $2000 for something... i OWN it. it's mine. i can paint it, keep it clean (i do religiously), give it away, worship it...whatever.
finally, it's my data that matters most, the powerbook is just a tool to carry my data (a tool, btw, i really love).
and again, i have done this tastefully & minimally (see pics)
anyway,
will not reply anymore, just wanted to make my point!

I was going to put "That's stupid," cause was my own opinion, but I now think it can be done with taste...
...my dad recently placed a classic 6-color apple logo (which happened to be the perfect size) on top of his TiBook's glowing apple. It actually looks nice when lit up.
I'm still not putting anything on MY pb, though

I have been wondering - does anyone sell "stickers" that are translucent and designed to fit on that glowing apple logo? I would love to make mine red, and the "leaf" green - I have seen "modded" PB's (or maybe iBooks) that someone had disassembled and put colored film inside - but I don't want to take mine apart.
Thanks,
Jeff

Identification stickers stuck on the battery. I'm in airports every week so I need something to identify the powerbook in case I forget it at a security checkpoint.
I know it sounds crazy to "forget" your laptop, but I did once, and was paged over the PA system to come back and get it cause I have my name on a sticker on the battery.
It is easy to get flummoxed with the security hassles at airports, make sure you ID your laptop if you travel.

i dont see how putting on stickers on a pb will make you a careless owner. i personally wouldnt put a sticker on my pb, but i dont think its wrong to put stickers on either.
