Okay, kinda long story:
I switched processors between two B&W G3's; one had a 400MHz G4, the other had a 450MHz G3, then I swapped motherboards, and everything worked fine. I upgraded the hard drive in the G4 to a 60GB Maxtor unit and everything was wonderful, but then I switched the processors back to their original motherboards. Now the mobo that originally had the G4 had the G4 once again and it works perfectly, but the G3 w/ new HD quits apps after a couple bounces and I get the darkened screen with the "you need to restart your computer" message. I got disk utility to run once and it was fine, but when I tried to repair permissions it made me shut down. Could it just be a messed up jumper from swapping processors and jumper blocks twice? Or is there something more wrong?

Okay, I checked and the jumper settings are fine. Any ideas?
I try to open disk utility, but when it searches for disks, it closes and asks me if i want to see a report or reopen, but if i want to see the report, i can read it for a couple seconds until it quits. Help!!

I applied thermal paste and adjusted the heatsink wire so it didn't hit the lower CD drive, but the imovie problem persisted. I reinstalled Tiger, to no avail, but when i went to reinstall iLife '06, it told me that iLife wants a G4 processor, which I had in it at initial installation, but not currently. So looks like I'll swap the G4/400 back in there and use the G3 as my server.

As I was taught to say when I took a class in computer reapair:
It's broken.
