I picked up my new DS lite today as well. I'm loving the new Super Mario Bros game. The best thing is I've been playing this thing all day but my wrist don't hurt. I cant' say the same for my PSP. I purchased Brain Age too and I was shocked to find out my brain age is currently 59. I gotta work on lowering that number.
I suggest you pick it up too. It's only $20.

Slick shoes?! Are you crazy?!

God I wish there was Smash on this thing.

I just got a DS a week or so ago here in Japan (where it is equally tough to buy) and am always up for some kart. We need a MacNN Mario Kart team.

Brain Age is fun and really wakes you up in the AM.
True Swing Golf is neat.
Princess Peach I like the control better than Mario.

From GBA, Wario Ware Twisted, although it sticks about like a brick now.

Get Trauma Center: Under the Knife

It's very innovative and TOUGH! Don't let its cover box art fool you that it's a kid game, it's not.

edit: wtf no one mentioned Advanced War: Dual Strike? Pretty good game.

Excuse me, everyone...Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow. A must have for any DS owner.

Mario Kart DS, Brain Age, Metroid Prime: Hunters, New Super Mario Bros, Tony Hawk's American Sk8land (suprised by this one), Advance Wars: Dual Strike, Trauma Center, Phoenix Wright, and Tetris DS are my favorites for the system

Waited 2 hours for my DS Lite yesterday, and I'm so glad to be able to play these games again.

Why is it that Nintendo can't make the screen just a little bit bigger?

Just a smidgeon? I'd agree, but I still love the DS Lite. I guess they're focusing on keeping it as portable as possible, but even so, you'd think they could make it even a centimeter bigger. Oh well.

Well, I love it. Visiting other towns through WiFi is cool. There were a few missteps (the furniture limit and no Christmas among them), but I think it was a great effort overall. I'm having a lot of fun creating a new town since my first one was stolen.

Not to mention that the friggin' NPCs don't give you NEARLY as much to do vs. the GC version. They just spew junk and eventually, after maybe 8-10 pesters, will give you something to do.

So hopefully the Wii version will supercede the GC version and have online play. The DS version just blows.

I'm not a big gamer. Played the console stuff a bit, years ago, returning only from time to time, but I still picked up one of the Lites. It's a lot of fun and a very nice machine. Guess you wouldn't get even the amount of nostalgia I get, though.

I've played consoles, I own an N64 and Sega Genesis, and my roommate's got a PS2. I've got SNES9X and about 2 gigs of ROMs for it. Just never did the portable thing. If I need to play video games during class I'll be a true nerd and pull out tetris on my TI-89 Titanium.

I don't really use my DS as a portable system. Probably 75% of the time I use it I'm at home. Can't always play consoles (the wife likes to use the TV too) and sometimes I just prefer something simpler like a round of Mario Kart online or some Advance Wars.

What itai said.

DS games are as robust if not more so than SNES (and 64) games. Just do as he does, play at home. There's no rule where portable devices (laptops, cell phones, gaming systems) must only be used away from home.

Same here. i never play portably... the reason i got the Lite was cause of the new stuff only possible on it. it's the first portable console ive ever owned...and ill be playing it almost exclusively at home. plus it's not too expensive which is good.

As far as being a gamer...i owned a Megadrive(genesis)...skipped the whole N64/PS1 gen...got a GameCube 3 years ago and now a NDSL.

US will get Opera browser software for DS very soon, it's already out in Japan if I'm not mistaken.

I haven't tried Metroid Prime: Hunters yet but I heard it's awesome online. Tetris DS is also online.

After reading this thread I'm sold on the DS Lite. Is it worth buying off of eBay for the colored version? Too bad they don't come in black to match my MacBook

Also, are there enough people playing online? When I had Xbox Live for the original Xbox, lobbies would be packed for about 2 months after the games release and then trickle down to non-existant/impossible to get a game started. Except for Halo2 and RB6, most games I owned had no players on Live.

What color you after ? if it's black, navy or blue...ur best way to get one would be via liksang or another import/export site.i had my heart set on the white one so am glad thats what was released here in Oz.

Just been reading that Japan Airlines will be offering DS Lites (stripped of wireless of course) to passengers in first and "executive" class. (source: http://www.nintendojo.com/infocus/vi...php?1150145528 ). very cool indeed.

I just got my DS Lite with NSMB too. It's awesome. Also got the Brain Age demo with it and it seems interesting, might pick that up eventually too.

I want Mario Kart and Tetris, and my fiancé really wants Wario Ware: Touched which she had on her old DS which broke.

But this thing really is a beautiful piece of hardware though. And I absolutely hated the DS when it first came out.

Seems like Nintendo really scored a home run on this one. No one seems to dislike it.

I thought the PSP would wipe the floor with the DS, but because of the games available for the DS I'm now thinking of getting one.

I wouldn't get any other color than white, even if they had released them in the U.S. It will match my MacBook and iPod nano. I love the very Apple-like feel to it.

New Super Mario Bros. is officially my favorite handheld game of all time now. It's brought back so many memories with the music, sound effects, and gameplay. The first time you step on a Goomba, that satisfying "boing" will make you grin from ear to ear.

I've enjoyed Brain Age. You'll only play it for a few minutes a day (unless you're a Sudoku fan like me), but it really does feel like it's sharpening your brain for the rest of the day.

FIFA World Cup is a decent game, but sports games are always hard to translate to a handheld. Metroid Prime: Hunters is pretty unique. The control takes some getting used to.

Advance Wars: DS Super addictive, perfect portable game. Can be played in small spurts or in long marathon sessions. Has an almost unlimited amount of re-playability. Is easy to pick up and impossible to put down.

Also highly recommended are: New Super Mario Bros., Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, Mario Kart DS, Tetris DS, Meteos, and Wario Ware Touched.

There are also a bunch of games that are pretty good, but not good enough to be highly recommended. There are about a billion great games for the system. It's pretty awesome really. I have a stack of games to play at home and about 3 or 4 I'm very interested in.

My sig is 1 pixel too big.

Yeah, I'm sure they are working on a wifi version right now. I'm of the opinion that they are going to have to balance the game quite a bit before taking it online.

The power and usefulness of the Commanding Officers are all over the place. Some of them are incredible and some of them are completely worthless. They would have to fix that as well as make sure that all of the maps are fair for both players. Most of the maps are designed for single player play right now.

I would give my left nut for an online Final Fantasy Tactics.

Sigh, Zelda: Phantom Hourglass is delayed to 2007.

Starfox DS, 3v3 Mario Basketball and Final Fantasy III DS should be out soon.
