I just installed a Superdrive in my mini...The pioneer superdrive available from macsales.com. It reads CDs and DVDs fine, but won't read a blank DVD at all...it'll just chirp for a little while, and then kick the disc out. I've tried a Memorex DVD+R and a Sony DVD-R, with no luck on either one. Is the burner defective, or is there some software step I missed along the way. This mini originally just came with the DVD-ROM drive. Thanks for any help you can toss my way!

Okay, update...I just found it won't read any DVDs at all. It did just a couple days ago, but it won't read a Video DVD or my Tiger install DVD either all of a sudden.

I just had this happen with my G5 iMac 2GHz - I've been burning data CD's and DVD's, burning home iMovie projects with iDVD, and ripping audio CD's with no problems. Suddenly last week, my superdrive won't read ANYTHING, blank DVD/CD's, commercial DVD/CD's, even discs I've recently burned on it.
I recently upgraded iTune and to 10.4.7, but this problem started a few days afterward. I've used Disk Utility, repaired permissions, and updated again to 10.4.7 using the Combo Update, with no help.
Any ideas would be appreciated. My iMac is 14 months old, and is covered by AppleCare, but I hate to send it in if there's another fix.
