That time of year, again. Where has the time gone?

I was reading about how things were not settled in terms of Steve presenting this year...

Then, by accident, I came across two sort of opposing videos on Youtube, illustrating a marked difference in Steve's health. I hope he is doing well and we see him this year, I have been trying to find out some info but nothing is out there.

Yesterday's Steve:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6o5CV...eature=related

Today's Steve:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xpyTcVMhd8M

Let's hope yesterday's Steve shows up.

Additionally, any predictions?

I usually make regular visits to AI and Macrumors etc sites when its Expo time, this time I might stay clear and try to come into the Expo fresh with no rumours and ideas in my head beforehand. As for SJ, I hope he's healthy and well enough to show.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

What I find interesting that people seem to get whipped up into a frenzy of what might happen, but then ultimately are upset when MW fails to live up to expectations. To that end, I keep my expectations pretty low. I would like to see a mini refresh, but given that I just bought an iphone, I'm going to hold off since I is broke.

Anyone here have their badge mailed to them yet? I tried to use a clever name again, not sure if it got past their censors.

I'm predicting an in-depth Snow Leopard preview (or possibly even a release.)

What about the venerable 17" MBP? I'm in the market for a new one but waiting until they come out with the Unibody version.

Technically that's a manufacturing issue. The change has been made, manufacturing just can't get it out the door.

I've been hoping that since there was a delay, maybe Steve had something up his sleeve with regard to the 17". But as you say, it's probably just a technical delay.

Well, there's always the possibility that manufacturing problems are so bad they go in a new direction with it, but that seems pretty damned unlikely.

Edit: Personally, I'm hoping something happens to the mini, but history has told me not to be optimistic.

Uh, the one that just got updated when the unibody MacBooks and MacBooks Pro came out? With what's apparently a way-more-capable CPU? And that didn't even ship until a few weeks ago? I can think of changes that I'd like to see, but I expect none for another 5 or 6 months.

I must have been asleep when they announced the changes. But, it does feel like they need to do something to it hardware or drop the price to something slightly closer to reasonable.

Display Port on the Mac mini and iMac with Nvidia graphics systems like the Macbook and Macbook Pro, more Cinema Displays with Display Port. Maybe iLife 09. Maybe 17" MBP. No I still haven't been looking, but that much makes sense as its a consumer show and SJ said at the MacBook release that Display Port would be brought into the desktops next year.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

Well, like I said, the CPU is apparently loads better. See the Engadget review. Actually, now that I've skimmed that review again, it mentions that the GPU and FSB/memory are much faster too. Also, the price of the highest-end config is at least $500 less than the original version, and the SSD capacity at that setup is something like you might find in a laptop intended for use as a primary machine. So it's a way better deal than before. It still just imposes a big premium over the standard MacBook for size/weight savings, but that's part of the model's identity.

I think ajprice's predictions are all pretty likely. AppleInsider and Wired.com have been reporting whispers of an updated mini. Makes sense that they do it soon, unless they're just going to kill the line. If there's a redesign in the works, I hope it includes easy access to the HD. In any event I doubt they'll switch it to 3.5" SATA, since they love to keep making cases smaller and thinner.

I'd like to see an tv related announcement, but I really have no idea what they'd do. I think the real way to sell boxes would be to come to some kind of deal with Netflix. Or better: form some kind of consortium wherein you can buy video content from multiple providers and have your choice of boxes to view it on. Then Apple can make money on the hardware even if folks get their video from Amazon or Netflix or whatevs; they can try to make money on content as well by making their store well-integrated, but they should drive people to buy the boxes by advertising wide compatibility.

I'd also love to see a 32GB iPhone, but I think that's another month or 3 down the road.

And along the lines of pipe dreams, I'd like to see a budget MacBook/netbook competitor, or a tablet. But I doubt that's happening any time soon.

This MacWorld is going to suck.

Phil Schiller seems a nice, likable guy, but his keynotes are horrible. Unless Jonathan Ives is allowed to get up there and say "aluminum" 1,000 times, I'm not even going to watch it.

New Mac Minis? Snow Leopard? Even if the tv is updated, the show is going to be blah.

What I'd like to see:

20 and 30 inch displays updated
17" Macbook Pro updated
Snow Leopard covered in detail
New Mac Pros
New Mac Minis
A 'one more thing'

I predict I will probably only see 1, possibly 2 of these actually come up though
LC 16Mhz • LC 475 25Mhz • Centris 650 25Mhz • Performa 6200/75Mhz • G3 266Mhz • Snow iMac DVSE 500Mhz
G4 QS 733Mhz • 17" Powerbook 1.33Ghz • 15" MacBook Pro Core Duo 2.16Ghz • Mac Pro 8-Core 3.0 Ghz

I agree. They say Apple doesn't need Steve, and maybe I can agree with that, but his fans do.

Quite the wish list, huh? I'd expect all except the new Mac Pro's and displays.

I always have to laugh at people's predictions, the ones that say, I predict x, y, z... But then the person states that the chances of it happening are unlikely, etc. What they are really saying is, if Apple doesn't deliver their predictions, they will be a) in total disbelief and b) completely let down and frustrated.

I can see why Apple might bail financially since these big shows are real money pits and Apple probably burns through an enormous amount of cash.

However the worried side of me says Steve is bailing for health reasons.

Haha. MacRumorsLive webcast was hacked. Looks like they took it down. Right in the middle of their updates it said "Steve Jobs just died" and then back to normal news. Then about 10 minutes later the stream went to hell with someone from 4Chan taking credit...

All glory to the hypnotoad.

Does anyone else have any live text updates? macrumorslive.com seems to have been hacked, or something, and is now down.

Yeah, I was reading macrumors, but wow.

If I had hacked there, and had millions of people reading my jokes, I would say funnier stuff than "Steve jobs died!" and "Gay holy shitt cocks"

So lame. Not even attempting to read the real updates anymore through macrumors.

Anyone there have any insight?

And Dakar, yes, it looks like he's going through each freakin' iLife app. Although the "Learn to Play" feature in GarageBand does seem pretty cool...

I suppose if you're looking at scroll-bars, then you might consider this a lively presentation.

I hope when they roll out the mini he takes a moment on each of its ports and what awesome stuff you can do with them.
