Both the 6c63 and 6c75 builds on carracho *currently* are, if not fake, then severely corrupted.

The 6c63 has a corrupt essentials.pkg resource which means it won't work, and the 6c75 disc image has similarly corrupted system/library/frameworks .pkg's.

Its very suspicious that it is only the essential parts of the installation that are corrupted; I'd say its a case of someone faking images by changing creation dates en-masses to make out they're real, and doctoring the build number so it looks real.

Or just very bad luck? :o )

Interesting thought..I read at register that recording companies have resorted to tactic of releasing fake mp3 of hits on file sharing servers, in fact flooding them.. who would doctor essentials packages for OS and release them ..just a thought..hmhmhmh.. its quite widespread tactic by the way..but i dont see why anyone would win by releasing doctored os versions.,no one really needs em

you should be glad that you just cannot install em..if you installed and that thing would wipe out all hard drives..thatll be a nightmare and no one can be blamed

Interesting about the music companies flooding the P2P networks with mucked up songs.

I wonder if that's legal. While it is rarely done, there is legitimate downloading of music from those networks. Intentionally wasting people's time could be construed as fraud. Although no money has changed hands... I'm not a lawyer, but it's an intesting thought.

More practically, this is just another tactic by the recording industry (along with 'fair-use'-defiled CDs and their general attitude towards internet distribution) that will really turn people off and eventually cause the complete breakdown of the way they do business. If only they would embrace the internet as a legitimate distribution system with reasonable pricing. Oh wait, that would mean that they would have to sign decent artists that could produce more than one hit per CD (thus making you pay $15/song)! Just another reason that I stopped listening to mainstream music a long time ago.

Still, I salvaged the extras.rsrc thingy from 6C75 and found that they have a new progress widget as opposed to the old 'rotating arrow'

I'll agree with Hash though. It is pretty reasonable. If I buy Photoshop for $600, then I'll make that back in just a couple of projects. The next time I upgrade, it's only $150, so I make that back even sooner. Still, it's similar to how I have to pay higher insurance, to cover those who don't have any.

Jaguar is out just in 1-2 months. I think i can wait. BTW, i did not find Jaguar to be as revolutionary as compared to 10.0-10.1.

I'm pretty sure that would be in violation of my parent's NDA.

Not to mention ADC Select & Premier members have only had access to one version of Jaguar, the Developer Preview that was seeded at WWDC, not later versions. I'm personally not that bothered about getting Jaguar (I don't have an obsessive desire to get the latest buzzword-compliant betas which half-implement technologies with silly-sounding names and are filled with bugs ), which probably explains why I don't have it.

If it does really bother you, maybe you should go into the law enforcement industry so you can really do something about it.

I forgot to say this earlier, but to whoever thinks that if everyone bought software the price would come down is dead wrong. If Adobe sell Photoshop for $600 and everyone starts buying it they won't be dropping the price, that would make no sense at all. The price would fall if it were too high for demand, so if we all stopped buying Photoshop the price would fall. Besides, Adobe doesn't make money from people like us, they make money from businesses that buy multiple seat licenses.

If you want prerelease builds legitimately, then get the membership.

Otherwise, it's piracy. Must I start deleting these threads, rather than closing them? Will that get the point across?
