I have some pretty horrendous image persistence on my 23" ACD which I purchased in June '05. I've left it on a totally white screen every night for a whole 2 weeks and it hasn't gotten any better. Someone suggested to me that it might be a crack in the screen.

Any ideas? It's really annoying

Or like some type of liquid has gotten in. If it wasn't for it being an aluminium enclosure, i'd suggest taking apart and trying to clean it.

That's not image persistence, that's something wrong with the hardware. I've seen some others like that at work, but I'm not sure if it's due to abuse or manufacturing defect.

Did you buy AppleCare on the Mac you bought the display with? If so, call Apple.

See what you can sell it for on eBay and drop $600 on a 24" HD Dell?

Is it repairable, and how much would it cost? Should I take it to an Applestore?

I don't know enough to say with confidence, but my hunch is no, it is not repairable. I doubt they can do anything for you at an Apple Store, but if you have the time it's always worth a shot.

Welcome to AnandTech.com [ Article: LCD – For the Novice and the Expert]

I think your cable is bad (maybe the video card). Jostle the cable around some and see if it affects the image. Cable damaged due to working on the computer with the power on?

Try the monitor on another computer.
SourceForge.net: WinACD (Windows diagnostics and driver for ACD)

Apple - Support - Displays
I would take it in and get it fixed. Anyone around with a 23" ACD receipt less than 1 year old? The thing is a fair 20" LCD is
