Otterbox has launched the uniVerse case system for iPhone, that it has designed to work with iPhone accessories from a range of independent vendors, many of which it partnered with to bring the case to fruition. The system allows the case to remain on the iPhone, despite a user choosing to attach any number of iPhone-compatible accessories in a way that lends a level of modularity to the iPhone not previously seen. Dubbed "accessory modules," uniVerse case users can easily attach and remove things like the popular Olloclip lens system, or the SanDisk iXpand flash drive, all without needing to continually remove and refit the case.

At launch, there are 15 accessories that are ready to attach to the uniVerse case. Customers can choose from: the Square contactless and chip card reader ($50); the Olloclip 4-in-1 lens ($80); the SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive ($60-$120); the Nite Ize Steelie vent mount kit ($40); Goal Zero slide battery ($55-$60); the Manatee Works Stingray barcode scanner ($95); the Seek Thermal compact camera and case (from $249); the Influx Wi-Fi booster ($40); the PolarPro Trippler tripod ($50); the PolarPro Stance compact tripod ($50); the PolarPro PowerPack removable battery pack ($50); the PolarPro Beat Pulsar wireless mobile speaker ($60); the PolarPro Fisheye wide-angle lens ($30); the PolarPro Trail Blazer armband ($35), and the PolarPro Stash Slim mobile wallet ($20) for storing cards on the back of the case.

The Otterbox uniVerse case system is available in black or white, and retails for $50.

Oh.... as a fan of Otterbox cases this is great. I've love the protection they offer, but have felt that to get that protection I have to give up a host of other options. This ends that. I do have two suggestions: 1. The iPhone 5/5s size is still sold as the iPhone SE. Please offer Universe cases for them. 2. Not everyone like touch-screen keyboards. Please add a slideout or filpout micro-keyboard.

Additional suggestion: add a belt clip accessory like the Defender series.
