Hoping someone can help me out here...JavaScript has stopped working in IE 5 and I can't get it to work at all.

I've tried deleting every Microsoft Preference file and extension in the system then performing the old "Microsoft First Run" re-install but still no JavaScript.

Any ideas? It's so annoying!

Just a wild guess, but have you tried to disable javascript (prefs->web content->enable scripting), use it for a while, and then enable it again?

IE also writes to the Internet Preferences file. Quit IE, move the Internet Preferences file out of your Preferences Folder (but do not delete unless you want to lose all your cookies) and relaunch IE. Check the JavaScript then... might work, might not.

And could you clarify what you mean by "not working at all"? I'm sorry, but some people are eternal fatalists---if JavaScript doesn't work for one site, they think it's broken on all sites. Just want to make sure it's just not throwing errors at you, and you're interpretting that as "not working"

Already tried that, tried it again and still no luck.

Basically anything JavaScript related, like the "Instant UBB" code buttons below just do not work. Say theres a link that triggers a pop up window, well that don't work no more either.

Grrr...

Did you trash the Explorer app itself?

I found the solution!

Switch to iCab

Been a while since I tried the little thing but it seems to have come on a bit, very impressed!

Try this... works everytime:

Delete the PPC Registration Database in System>Preferences and restart IE. It will rebuild the file and Javascript will suddenly start working again. The file corrupts when IE crashes for some odd reason... MS, go figure.
