What's the best free font for Somatic? I love this theme and I want a good font with it.
What's the font David uses in this pic? (The pixel font and is the 'Somatic' name a font too?)

yep another MS creation. Badly kerned and poorly designed as a Helvetica substitute cause, ironically MicroSoft, didn't want to pay royalties to the established type foundries.

and I have never been a fan... not a big fan of Univers, Verdana (whoafully overused), Century Gothic . . .

baar sophia, is in my mind, the best free font in the world for any theme, especially Somatic.

(and yes, it is free, i just can't find the original site where i got it from. google is my friend.)

After using it with the Underling theme, I noticed some characters missing like the capital delta (greek letter shaped like triangle).
My most important app being CAD, every "deltaX" and "deltaY" read "euroX" and "euroY", kind of silly IMHO.
Maybe more characters missing ?

Close System Preferences
Open the Terminal
Paste the following, then hit Return:

defaults remove com.unsanity.Silk "Font Cache"

Silk will now rebuild the font list when you open it again

Or search the forum with "silk" for more usefull tips.

Also worth noting. If you add more fonts in the future, all you have to do is open up the Terminal and hit Up (up arrow) to scroll through commands you've previously used.

That way you don't have to look for that string every time you want to delete the cache.

marty is not that usable I dont think, especially for smaller sizes, just comes in that bold flavor, anyone else agree? baar is beautiful though.

I was going to say as well, Medrano works well with Somatic as well Baar is just more sophisticated, Medrano is more for that 6th grade look. Marty and that other one, eigh.

Then double-click on Replacement Font and choose the font that replaces the font you've chosen to be replaced!

At the risk of sounding like an a**, I think this time it's fair to say : do a search. There are many good tips on how to use Silk in this forum. If you're new to Silk, you best read them all first.

I've contacted Marc Clancy (powdah) (he actually designed the new Unsanity website) and he had sent me the font. I am hosting it on my server (with the author permission) for now:

powdah is nothing special in my mind, not even centered properly, this goes for a lot of these fonts, baar sophia and handelmod are still tops I think for their proper alignment and system wide use.
