Am I missing something or is this feature gone now? I only get "download linked file" when I right-click on a link!

Press Option when the menu is present.

Ok, thanks, this works but didn't this work without Option in Safari 1.2 (I never pressed Option before)?

Yeah, it's changed with the release of v1.3...I only found out about it by reading Dave Hyatt's blog this morning.

I'm using Safari 1.3 and I can still do save as... the only thing that option changes in the menu is closing all or just one window/tab.
Am I missing something?

You are missing that they were talking abou the context menu on links or pictures while you are looking at the File menu in the menubar.

Right (Ctrl)+click on a file and see the difference when holding down "Option" from the Safari contextual menu...

Yeah, it really is - I save files to different places all the time and I really don't want to reach for my keyboard and press Option!
(but ok, Safari is now really damn fast!!!!!)

Actually, I find it much, much better than the old way. Before, you had to go through the dialog no matter what. At least now it's much more convenient.
