I've been interested in the Dash GPS device for quite some time. I would love to have it re-route me around traffic so I can stop wasting time in my car.

Can't the iPhone do the same thing? A software application should allow it to collect data on how fast you are moving and where you are, then it could relay it to a remote server which keeps track of the busy roads. Then you can pull up directions (assuming Apple allows this eventually) and get data from millions of iPhone users. The install base would be much higher than the Dash GPS users.

How about it? Someone build this!
