Guess what? I'm sitting in my house the other day, and I get a call from a prospective buyer, out of the blue. He wants to buy my house and wants to know if it's for sale. It wasn't, but then again, everything is for sale at the right price.

So I made him an offer that was above the price I paid for the house a little while ago. He accepted, and now I'm selling my house with a nice profit. No real estate fees, and I make money in a bad housing market.

I have another place to live, so this wasn't a hard decision - especially given the market! So you heard it here first, the housing market is on the mend and I started it all by myself. Now if I could just fix my 401(k) . . .

Now, who here thinks I should spend part of the profit on a new MacBook Pro when they are released?????

Buy gold and platinum, `cept for $2000 (use that to get a new MBP).

Wow, that's something.

Maybe you just didn't know about the hidden treasure in your backyard ?

I wouldn't count on the money until I had it in hand.

You sure your house isn't on some kind of gold mine, or oil reserve? ;-)

Yeah, that would figure. I make a couple of bucks and find out I'm sitting on the next great oil supply.

Still, as long as I can keep financing my Apple addiction, I'm happy.

How about just saving it?

Or pay off any debts you have (car, credit card, etc.).
Sell or send me your vintage Mac things if you don't want them.

Hey congrats on the nice sale!

What's your neighbourhood like? No foreclosures around there? What's the pricing like in that general area?

If you have strong intestinal fortitude, you could try investing now. The prices are bargain basement. The only question is if they'll get even more subbasementish. However, if you hold for more than few years you may be in good shape. Or not.

Depends on what they release Tuesday (and what you have now).
