I have a colleague who needs to have a mac mini run continual unattended presentations (Keynote, PowerPoint, maybe Flash) on a plasma display. She's sure she's seen an OS X application that lets you schedule opening and closing of files, which you could use to automate this. Any ideas what this app was, or alternative solutions?

I'm actually not sure, but maybe AppleScript (or Automator) could help you.

Keynote has a feature to run a presentation as self-guided (no user interaction involved) or kiosk. Put your keynote file into the startup items so it automatically launches on bootup and make sure the file is set to auto play when opened. Should work.....
