Fans of NASA will now be able to follow the activities of the space agency via the Apple TV, after it released an app for the set-top box. Made for the fourth-generation Apple TV, the app follows after similar releases
for iOS, Android, and Fire OS, and provides users with the ability to watch not only streaming video from NASA TV, but also access to a plethora of other content useful for those interested in astronomy and space flight.
NASA TV is not the only thing available to stream, as the app offers a real-time view of the Earth from the international Space Station, on-demand NASA videos chronicling major events in the agency's history, and the Third Rock internet radio station. Also viewable are over 15,000 images, which can be viewed as a continuous slideshow, 2D and 3D satellite tracking maps, the Earth as Art image gallery, and information about NASA missions.
"The NASA app has been a fantastic way for the public to experience the excitement of space exploration from their mobile devices," said NASA associate administrator for Communications David Weaver. "Now, users with the latest Apple TV can explore and enjoy our remarkable images, videos, mission information, NASA Television, and more on the big screen with the whole family."
The app is free to download in the App Store on Apple TV.
