Very quickly, I'm interested to see if there is a way that I can use a key combo to switch to different input languages or keyboards, like from English to Russian, for example. Anyone have any information on this?

Yes. By default it is command-space (at least it was on my system) but you can change this in system Preferences:

I switch between Japanese, English and German keyboard layouts regularly. Works perfectly.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
