Privacy statements are indeed idiotic, but many times, the sender has no control over them. At my last job, any message that was sent to an outside email was automatically appended with one of those things.

Likewise, if I ask something of you in an e-mail and the only response required is "Yes." then so be it. Good. Be curt. I'm not really interested in anything else, certainly not what device you use to correspond with.

We've got someone who puts a "Disclaimer" inside a <pre> tag with no returns in it. Thunderbird will print it cropped down, but Mail.app shrinks everything down to macroscopic proportions to fit that one long line onto the page.

On the opposite side, I have found some e-mails I had sent blocked and not delivered cause I did include attachments with them. The Content Scanner suggested to rename the files to avoid it, but the list of file types being blocked on delivery is incredibly long and most file extensions are new to me.

Yep, E-7. I made it in under 15 years, too-pretty fast for the Air Force. And I wound up spending almost 1/3 of my career as an E-7, equivalent to the CPO tier.

What most non-military people don't understand is that in uniform, we tended to wear our CVs on our chests-in our decorations. I don't know how the Navy was, but there was tremendous pressure on me to wear my decs all the time. I think it had something to do with "my deployment record is bigger than yours" or some junk.

Some people in the Navy wore all their ribbons. Sometimes it was 6 or 7 rows high, but quite a few just wore the top senior three ribbons, so they only had one row. I hardly ever wore my uniform that required ribbons, anyway. Putting a seatbelt with ribbons on is a pain in the ass.. Remember that?

We had an "all or none" rule, which meant that Senior NCOs basically had to wear all of 'em. And seatbelts were always a hassle.
