Hello People,


Just signed up. Had a couple of macs for a few months but have not really got into them until recently. So I'm an iNoob. (some5-6 years of Linux use and some win use prior to that).

Question: I have an ibook g4 (1300mhz with 512RAM) - will it support Leopard? As in, will leopard install and run well enough to make losing Tiger worth it?

If you add 512MB to 1GB extra RAM, for 1GB or 1.5GB total, then yes it will.

I rather suspected the RAM might need a boost.

I've found Leopard was faster than Tiger on my G4 machines. You can doooooo it

I believe the iBook G4s only had one RAM slot with another 256MB soldered on the logic board, so you're going to want to look for one stick of 1G DDR SO-DIMM.

Correct and Leopard runs just fine on mine.

If its a 14" machine then yes, it has only 256MB soldered in and so 1.25GB is the maximum. If it's a 12" however, it has 512MB soldered on, and so 1.5GB is the max.
