This is our city jail:

This is where some "guests" escaped from:

To give you an idea, this is where it's located. Yup, that's about four blocks away from the Willis Sears Tower:

Yeah. Depending on what they did to warrant their "stay", the city might want to consider leaving them be just because that really was a ballsy escape.

Oh well they will definitely need to round them up them. If it was some non-violent offense like drug possession or something that would be one thing. But bank robbery is something else entirely.

The million dollar question is how did they get the freaking window open?

Sadly, I see the city wanting to play that one close to the vest.

Seems like more than a few bedsheets worth of rope. Wonder where they were hiding all that.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

Bank robbers are awesome. It takes creativity, inteligence, and gusto to pull it off without getting caught.

PS: how wide are the windows? It seems like they're designed to be too narrow to squeeze through, but apparently that didn't work. Or were the bank robbers contortionists maybe?

Edit: one article says the window is 5" wide, but they may have dislodged a block of the wall below it to get out. Strange, as that seems like an easy thing to answer yes or no on after the fact, maybe it is being kept secret.

Yeah, they probably don't want to reveal in detail how to escape from the building. It's hard to tell from the photo, but my guess is the window is a bit wider than 5 inches. I've seen skinny people on TV squeeze their bodies through a tennis racket, though - and the human ribcage is flexible enough for people to fit through some pretty tight spaces with some difficulty. Might be hard with balls that big, though.

But don't these guys watch movies? When you escape from a jail in downtown Chicago, you can avoid capture by getting lost in a passing St. Patrick's Day parade. These guys picked the wrong time of year.

I've seen a few cubicle drones make escapes like that.

When I was a touch more svelte, I could squeeze though a 10" gap without too much trouble. The ribcage is much easier than the pelvis.
